Highway Maintenance Worker

Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) – Coshocton County, PN

What You Will Do:

• You will serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
• You will attend training to obtain CDL licensure if you are not already a licensed CDL holder.
• You will perform highway maintenance activities including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing.
• You will perform snow and ice operations.

Qualifications

Highway Maintenance Worker 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, and reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary. Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without air‑brake restriction.

Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages, and fractions; ability to read, write, and speak common English vocabulary. 3 months training or 3 months experience in operation of basic equipment. Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without air‑brake restriction.

Supplemental Information:

• This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.
• All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one‑year probationary period.
• Position will be filled pursuant to the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
• The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
• All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment.
