Performs inspections, checks, and tests for quality assurance of manufactured product to ensure compliance with product specifications.

• Inspects pipes for defects such as blowholes, cracks, and rough spots.
• Weighs and counts pipes, and records inspection data on standard form.
• Communicates with supervisors about quality defects.
• Performs calibration of gauges.
• Suggests changes in equipment usage to increase process efficiency.

High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language skills: ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.

Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer skills: computer literate; some training will be available. Ability to use scanner and copier.
