Provides leadership in the pursuit of Company safety goals and initiatives, including the management of safety procedures and policies, safety training of personnel, and performance of formal safety audits.

• Manages safety programs assigned to include annual audits to ensure requirements are followed.
• Surveys, compiles, and analyzes data relating to occupational and environmental health issues such as chemical exposure, radiation, smoke, fumes, noise, temperatures, dusts, vapors, mists, gases, solvents, lighting, and ergonomics.
• Conducts or oversees employee Industrial Hygiene exposure monitoring.
• Conducts incident investigations as necessary.
• Promotes safe work behaviors.
• Provides managerial support and subject matter expertise ensuring appropriate Employee Health and Safety (EHS) systems and resources are in place.
• Provides technical guidance to management, labor organizations, government agencies and civic groups regarding health-related problems and correct use of protective clothing or accessories.
• Monitors the Company’s health standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.
• Implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
• Supervises and coordinates work activities of staff related to safety and OSHA.
• Provides effective leadership, direction and professional expertise to management and employees on all areas of safety.
• Implements programs to train managers and employees in worksite safety practices, fire prevention and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
• Prepares analysis of industrial accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
• Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards, determines corrective or preventive measures and follows up to ensure implementation.
• Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries, and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.
• Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Stays abreast of Company policies, procedures, and regulations as well as governmental regulations impacting safety.
• Supervises, coaches, develops, and mentors subordinates.
• Motivates and encourages teamwork within the department to ensure objectives are met.
• Works within budget constraints.
• Fosters positive work relationships.
• Observes and enforces all Company, housekeeping, safety and plant policies and procedures.
• Has strong written, oral, communication and facilitation skills.
• Creates and maintains a culture of continuous improvement.
