**** Overview of Position:
The SANE Registered Nurse is responsible to perform sexual assault examinations, per Genesis Health Care System policy, when on-call and called in by an Emergency Department Clinical Coordinator.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES
** 1. Perform sexual assault examinations per Genesis Health Care System policy when needed.
2. Attend education and training for the adult/adolescent sexual assault nurse examiner that grants a minimum of forty (40) hours of continuing nursing education contract hours from an accredited provider.
3. Attend education and training for the adult/adolescent sexual assault nurse examiner that grants four (4) hours of simulation (SIMS) training from an accredited provider.
4. Attend six (6) hours of courtroom observation. Courtroom schedule will be provided to on-call SANE RN staff by SANE clinical Coordinator.
5. Complete three (3) SANE exams 9
SIMS or precepted). 6. Provide individual on-call availability to SANE coordinator in a timely manner to ensure that the on-call SANE schedule is up-to-date and available to Emergency Department Clinical Coordinators.
7. Provide on-call services, at a minimum, of four (4) twelve (12) hour shifts or two (2) twenty-four (24) hour shifts per month during the duration of their commitment agreement, which is two (2) years.
8. Provide on-call services for a minimum of one (1) twelve (12) hour holiday shift per year for the duration of the commitment agreement. Holiday’s include:
Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. 9. Maintain supplies in SANE cabinets and carts. 10. Attend SANE educational opportunities 11. Attend staff meetings.
** QUALIFICATIONS
* * 1. BSN and current Ohio RN License.
2. Current CPR certification, or obtain within 30 days of employment.
3. Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff.
4. Attention to detail.
5. Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others.
6. Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge.
7. Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan.
8. Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care.
