Job Description

Basic

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages people and processes that affect the integrity of the inventory and our system. Drives best practices that result in higher inventory turns, lower costs, fewer internal and supplier issues, and top-level customer service. Encourages teamwork between Supply Chain departments (Inventory Control, Shipping and Purchasing) and production, sales, accounting, and other MDO departments.

  • Develops tools and drives best practices in managing accurate inventory including cycle counting, analyzing stocking plans and ensuring processes are accurate and being followed.
  • Streamlines system processes in all scheduling positions and shows a sense of urgency with supporting production efficiencies and delivering the highest level of customer service.
  • Maintains the system integrity:
    Creation of new, non-pipe SKUs, current item, descriptions, and weights;
    Routings and BOMs; ROP, ROQ, and SS;
    Configurator;
    Vendor details; etc.
  • Maintains resale pricing for use in sales in quoting and price requests.
  • Uses MRP and Excel to place and receive purchase orders with accurate dates. Maintains completed files.
  • Logs/maintains Resale Vendor Issue System. Semi-annually communicates supplier rating system.
  • Runs and directs part of Annual Physical Inventory. Works with various departments to continuously improve the process. Participates in bi-monthly pipe inventories.
  • Manages, tracks, and communicates monthly all shipping shortages. Drives Corrective Actions for continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with team and external contacts to enhance collaboration and speed of trust.
  • Engage actively in hands‑on tasks and decision‑making processes.
  • Has strong written, oral, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Is able to deliver bad news quickly and keeps supervisor informed of important matters as they arise.
  • Understands and communicates the McWane Way Compass principles, values, and behaviors.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Leads the scheduling team. Hiring, interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Motivates and encourages teamwork within the department to ensure objectives are met.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years of related experience in some part of the supply chain preferred; or 5 years of related experience in multiple manufacturing supply chain positions (purchasing, scheduling, inventory control).
  • Experience with managing others, managing change, and driving accountability.
  • Certified in APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP preferred.
  • Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Windows, MS Office programs…
