Compensation:
LPN Licensed- $25.00 - $34.00 per hour
RN Licensed - $38.00 - $51.00 per hour
Summary:

The RN/LPN Telephone Triage performs nursing functions according to the nursing process and as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within.
  • Provides nursing care according to these sequential steps of the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Primarily responsible for handling incoming clinically related calls to the assigned department to ensure that patient needs are met. This may require protocol-driven responses.
  • Ensures smooth and efficient telephone communication by using proper telephone etiquette. Handles telephone calls appropriately, in a timely manner and offers assistance and reassurance to the caller. Advice given is done so under the direction and guidelines of the attending provider or per department protocol.
  • Demonstrates effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and follow-through. Accurately and legibly document concise, pertinent information (i.e. telephone message, EHR, etc.). Ensures patient care paperwork is processed and forwarded in a timely manner. Balance the speed and quantity of work with quality; multi-task comfortably.
  • Works cooperatively with team members in order to accomplish work effectively and efficiently; help create and maintain good working relationships; provide assistance and back-up with direct patient care as needed. Demonstrates effective conflict management skills.
  • Improves the quality of care through continuing education and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of care. This includes attendance/participation in most in-services/department meetings and remaining current on clinic/department policies and procedures.
  • Takes initiative to enhance practice management. Works with providers and clinical staff to improve the functioning and efficiency of the individual practice and/or hallway. Demonstrates open-mindedness by being supportive of change and assisting with implementation and adapting to the changing needs of the department/clinic.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of new employees.
  • Education/Licensure/

    Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing, required.
  • Current unencumbered State of Oregon license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, required.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in an acute care hospital and/or in an individual provider’s office or clinic setting, preferred.
  • Experience in appropriate specialty and/or telephone triage, preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire, required.

    Skills:

  • Evidence of working knowledge of the nursing process.
  • Knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care.
  • Ability to work well with providers, clinical staff and patients.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work.
