This recruitment will be used to fill three (3) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Program Specialist for the Office of Community Engagement & Leadership at Oregon State University (OSU).
Program Leaders are core to the success of Community Engagement & Leadership and are integral in the advancement of CEL's mission. Program Leaders support students in building skills and confidence as leaders and change agents;
Program Leaders will learn how to lead their peers in facilitating learning experiences for students to strengthen their leadership identity and gain knowledge and skills in self-awareness, building relationships, collaborating with others, and taking mindful action on social issues.
The position's main responsibilities include mentoring and coaching their teammates in planning events, building reciprocal relationships with community partners, consulting with and promoting opportunities to students/peers, and delivering educational programs for students this position, students gain leadership and future readiness skills. Specifically, students strengthen their ability to solve complex problems, communicate verbally and in writing, collaborate as a member of a team, plan and facilitate inclusive events and peer-to-peer learning experiences, and serve as a role model that motivates others.
Furthermore, students will advance their personal social responsibility and leadership, including values-based, strengths-based, relational, and socially conscious leadership practices. Position Duties
Program Planning & Peer Education
* Mentor and support CEL student staff on how to lead and plan CEL programs or services that align with CEL mission, vision, and values.
* Support task delegation among teammates to facilitate efficient, effective program planning.
* Strengthen office operations, culture, and team dynamics by facilitating feedback processes each term with CEL staff and analyzing data to make recommendations.
* Evaluate CEL programs and services and initiate process and program improvements based on experience delivering the program, assessment, evaluation, and feedback from student participants, peer student employees, and supervisors.
* Collaboratively organize, execute, and host events and service projects, including days of service, dialogic and storytelling programs, leadership workshops and retreats, and educational programs based on community need and student interest that support relational leadership development, community building, and positive change.
* Design and facilitate events and programs intentionally to support connection, inclusion, and belonging for participants
* Lead and facilitate group service-learning projects at community partner sites.
Community Building
* Foster, advocate, and contribute to a supportive culture by welcoming all students into the CEL space and inviting their participation.
