Position Summary
This recruitment will fill six (6) part‑time Peer Health Educator positions at Oregon State University’s Student Health Services. Peer Health Educators are part of a collaborative student team responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating educational workshops, campus events, tabling initiatives, peer‑to‑peer engagement opportunities, and online content that promote holistic student health and well‑being. Topics include substance use, recovery support, stress management, nutrition, sleep, and hazing prevention.

Educational Programming & Content Development
- Facilitate workshops and presentations on health and well‑being topics.
- Create educational materials, including handouts, digital content, and social media posts.
- Adapt program content for diverse audiences and contexts.
- Support peer‑to‑peer conversations and small‑group engagement activities.
Event Planning, Outreach & Engagement
- Staff and support campus‑wide wellness events, tabling, and awareness campaigns.
- Assist with outreach strategies to promote equitable access to health information.
- Collaborate with student organizations and campus partners to expand reach.
- Support event logistics, including preparation, setup, and breakdown.
- Work within a peer educator team to design, implement, and evaluate programs.
- Collaborate with professional staff across program focus areas.
- Build positive, inclusive working relationships with team members.
Assessment & Planning
- Identify student needs and emerging issues to inform programming.
- Consider barriers and inequities affecting student well‑being when planning initiatives.
- Assist with program evaluation using surveys, observations, and feedback tools.
- Analyze engagement data to recommend improvements or new initiatives.
- Propose new workshops, events, or digital resources based on trends and feedback.
- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:
- High School student:
Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program. - Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*.
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*.
* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS) and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
AdditionalRequired Qualifications
- Understanding of or interest in issues that impact student well‑being across diverse communities (substance use, recovery support, stress management, nutrition, sleep, hazing prevention).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to inclusive, respectful engagement with diverse student populations.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and engage with feedback.
- Experience in public speaking, presentations, or teaching.
- Experience in creating communication or marketing materials.
Training
- Training for newly hired Peer Health Educators will occur from week 2 to week 10 of spring 2026, with an average of 5–7 scheduled training hours per week to prepare for fall 2026.
- Fall 2026 training may begin as early as Monday, September 14, 2026, and consist of in‑person sessions and online modules.
