Overview
Oregon State University - Department of Chemistry invites applications for TWO full-time (1.0 FTE) Instructor positions (9 or 12 month). We seek one Organic/General Chemistry Instructor and one Physical/General Chemistry Instructor to support our undergraduate program. These are renewable, fixed-term appointments with future opportunities for advancement to Senior Instructor ranks, Professor of Teaching, and leadership roles at the department or university level.
Teaching load aligns with comparable instructor roles in the department. Large-enrollment courses will include strong TA support. Instructors will also have access to existing course materials and will generally work within coordinated teaching teams. OSU provides strong instructional support through the Center for Teaching and Learning, including faculty learning communities, workshops, consultations, and access to professional development funding. Our department is a collaborative and highly collegial teaching community where instructors are valued partners in shaping the success of our large and diverse undergraduate population.

- M.S. in Chemistry or a closely related field
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, collegial, and collaborative environment for faculty, staff, and students
- Experience or strong interest in chemistry instruction and/or curriculum development
- Expertise in organic or physical chemistry (depending on position)
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field
- Teach chemistry lectures and/or labs, lower and upper-level undergraduate courses
- Teach in-person and/or online courses
- Work collaboratively within teaching teams
- Use Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)
- Manage and supervise Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Learning Assistants (LAs)
- Contribute to curriculum development and instructional innovation
- $60,000-$70,000 (for 12 months), commensurate with qualifications
