Arabic Language & Culture Student Assistant
Location: Corvallis, Oregon (on campus)
Hours: Part time, 20 hours per week
Salary: 15.50 per hour

In this role, you’ll play an important part in enhancing the experience of Arabic‑speaking students, helping them navigate academic life, adjust culturally, and feel confident and supported throughout their journey.

About the RoleThe Arabic Language & Culture Student Assistant provides culturally informed guidance, language support, and advocacy to Arabic‑speaking students. You’ll collaborate closely with Student Success teams to ensure students understand available resources and feel empowered to succeed.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, values diversity, and wants to help create an inclusive student experience.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance and informal support to Arabic‑speaking students to help with cultural adjustment, well‑being, and academic success.
- Deliver presentations, information sessions, and outreach to support student engagement.
- Offer informal interpretation and translation support for students, staff, and campus partners where appropriate.
- Assist with student care cases, ensuring confidentiality and accurate record‑keeping.
- Share feedback with leadership to help improve programs, services, and the overall student experience.
- Build relationships with student organisations and leaders to strengthen communication and community connections.
- Support the Welcome Desk, orientation activities, and special events.
- Collaborate with colleagues across teams to support student success initiatives.
- Responsibilities may evolve over time in line with organisational needs.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting students and understands the experience of adjusting to a new cultural and academic environment. You’re confident communicating in English and fluent in Arabic, as this role works closely with Arabic‑speaking students and requires the ability to provide clear guidance and support in their primary language.
You build positive relationships easily, approach situations with empathy and professionalism, and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team. You’re organised, comfortable using technology for communication and record‑keeping, and committed to creating an inclusive environment where all students feel welcomed and supported.
Experience living or studying overseas or providing translation or interpretation support would be beneficial, but is not essential. Most importantly, you’re motivated to make a meaningful difference in the student experience.
