Driving Requirement

This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions (as per Voluntary and Compulsory Driver Standards OSU Standard ) as per OSU Standard  et seq.

OSU will conduct a review of the National Sex Offender Public website prior to hire.

Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Events Assistant for the College of Engineering Administration at Oregon State University (OSU).

Position Duties
  • 20% – General office duties; data entry, mail delivery, and maintain orderly, neat and clean appearance of event storage and office.
  • 50% – In-Office event work; drafting event communications and documents, creating and printing name tags, packing and checking-out event material requests, checking in and organizing returned materials, event related record keeping.
  • 20% – On-site event duties;
    Set up and tear down of office meeting space and event locations as needed, delivering event equipment to COE event locations, greeting guests, assisting with guest check-in, and supporting event manager as needed.
  • 10% – Other duties as assigned by Events Manager.
Minimum Enrollment Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student:
      Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program.
    • Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term.
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term.

* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to relate and communicate in a professional, positive, and friendly manner.
  • Ability to work during the academic year, an average of 6‑9 hours per week in the office (Covell Hall) or at event spaces on campus.
  • Availability in Winter and Spring terms of 2026 school year. Optional opportunity to work remotely approx. 3 hrs per week in the summer.
  • Experience in an office and/or event setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/ or Google Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to represent the College of Engineering with maturity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • Dependable with a positive attitude.
