Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill five part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Learning Assistant for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU).
Successful applicants will be contacted as positions become available. Applicants must be enrolled as degree-seeking undergraduate students at OSU for consideration.
Position DutiesLearning Assistants assist instructors in College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science courses by facilitating student work in active learning settings such as lab and recitation sections.
85% – Working with students in active learning settings (ie: lab and recitation classrooms, help sessions, online).
15% – Preparing for facilitation by meeting with course faculty, reviewing/completing course materials, training for being an LA (one time orientation).
Required Qualifications- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:
- High School student:
Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program. - Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term.
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term.
- High School student:
A major (undergraduate) in Geology, Geography and Geospatial Science, Oceanography, Climate Science, or Environmental Sciences.
