The City of Corsicana is seeking a qualified individual to provide leadership and supervision to the street cuts and street signs crew. This role works closely with the Streets, Construction, and Utilities Division Managers to coordinate and implement repairs to utility street cuts, street failures, street signs, and pavement markers in a timely and professional manner.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, install, remove, repair, replace, and rotate street signs
  • Maintain and repair traffic signal lights
  • Inspect, install, remove, repair, replace, and maintain pavement markings
  • Repair utility street cuts and street failures
  • Remove trees, brush, and debris from rights‑of‑way or City property
  • Operate trucks to haul supplies and perform minor and preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Inspect work sites before, during, and after completion to ensure quality and safety compliance
  • Operate all street department equipment including street sweeper, patch truck, and other light equipment as needed
  • Oversee and assist assigned staff with administrative and operational duties
  • Maintain records and prepare reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Streets Division Manager
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in all phases of street and alley construction
  • Equivalent combinations of education and related municipal work experience may be considered
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of materials, maintenance practices, and equipment used in street and City property maintenance
  • Ability to operate and climb onto light and heavy equipment such as skid steer loaders, front‑end loaders, street cut saws, compactors, backhoes, and tractors
  • Physical strength and ability to use hand tools including shovels, hoes, chainsaws, mowers, weed eaters, and rakes
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow safe work practices
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable City policies, laws, and regulations
  • Ability to supervise staff and facilitate team performance
  • Proficient in computer use and other office equipment
  • Strong communication skills with the public and team, demonstrating courtesy and professionalism
Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements
  • Continuous outdoor work with exposure to extreme weather, noise, dust, fumes, and physical hazards
  • Exposure to moving traffic, confined spaces, loud noises, irritants, rodents, and insects
  • Ability to bend, lift (up to 100 lbs), climb, and work in ditches, trenches, and wet or muddy areas
  • Must be able to safely operate and service equipment
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Regular attendance required, including evenings, nights, weekends, and on‑call during emergencies and hazardous weather
Employment Requirements
  • Maintain a 100% drug‑and alcohol‑free workplace
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Be subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment
  • Have and maintain a valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License Class A (CDL)
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality
  • Successfully complete a one‑year probationary period
  • Pass a criminal history check, background investigation, and drug screening to be considered for employment
