POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Teen Services Professional (TSP) is a part‑time, hourly position working with our youth to provide “hands on” delivery of daily in‑house programming including social recreation, team‑building activities, and an overall environment to build positive relationships.

Under the supervision of the Director of Teen Services, a TSP assists with the development and operation of our after‑school program. The role creates a welcoming and safe environment for members, aligns new members to program areas, special events, and opportunities, and provides support in their assigned program area by monitoring members’ behavior, providing instruction, and engaging with members and parents.

The TSP develops and delivers the BGCD and BGCA suite of teen programs ranging from college preparation, workforce exploration, esports, arts and crafts, the food program, low‑organized games, outdoor activities, special events, summer program, and group clubs.

TSP MUST BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:

KEY ROLES:
  • Building meaningful relationships with members
  • Delivery of specific program services within the Clubhouse
  • Compliance with organizational operational and HR policies
  • Overall Club climate—safety and security, moral compass, guidance
  • Teach and enforce discipline, values, morals, citizenship, manners, life skills, and citizenship
  • Proper reporting, record keeping and reports
  • Janitorial, maintenance of equipment and furnishings
  • Assisting the Program Director in all phases of the overall Club operation
  • Membership administration and program registration

Other duties as assigned by the Club Director

Build positive relationships: BGC staff, kids, parents, community stakeholders, visitors, volunteers

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver age‑appropriate programs and activities, which reflect Boys & Girls Club’s five core program areas, for teens ages 13–18.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts to reach 100 teen club members.
  • Transport club teens to various programs in BGC Vans.
  • Help ensure safe implementation of all programs and activities, including condition of equipment and facilities, age‑appropriateness, ability levels, weather, and appropriate use of equipment and supplies.
  • Orient new members to program area, special events, and opportunities as well as club safety, program, and disciplinary rules.
  • Implement, monitor, and evaluate programs, services, and activities for members.
  • Ensure program area is attractive, neat, and clean and bulletin boards and notices are current.
  • Assume other tasks, assignments, and responsibilities as needed or directed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive Boys & Girls Club culture, with high energy, strong teamwork, and effective collaboration with other staff.
  • Promote daily learning center program participation, as well as participation in special events.
  • Maintain productive relationships with parents, school faculty and administrators, and other visitors to the Club.
  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in club leader meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • 21+ years old.
  • Must have at least one year experience working with children.
  • Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of 6 months where: there is experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.
  • Formal training, and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging learning experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain a clear and active driving record in order to drive organizations 15 passenger vans.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Ability to de‑escalate problems when present, as well as problem‑solve during day‑to‑day club activities.
