Position: Field Service Technician-HOLT Industrial Rentals

Job Summary

The Field Service Technician 1 provides face‑to‑face customer service located off‑site and is responsible for minor troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning various light and heavy industrial rental equipment.

Essential Functions
  • Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools to ensure alignment with Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Work safely at all times and adhere to all applicable safety policies; comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform minor repairs and minimal troubleshooting off‑site with minimal supervision.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and minimal diagnoses of equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble basic components.
  • Test, make adjustments, and verify proper operation of all repairs and adjustments.
  • Prepare and complete all job related documents, write service reports, order parts, and maintain clear customer records; access necessary databases to complete job.
  • Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.
  • Maintain service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections, and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation.
  • Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
  • Maintain all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order.
  • Communicate job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.
  • Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat‑rate time and re‑work standards.
  • Work overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
  • Complete all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner.
  • Project professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may mentor lower‑level technicians.
  • Require regular and punctual employee attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, engines, undercarriage, and electrical.
  • Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and basic knowledge of machine electronic systems.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Basic diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Planning and organizing skills to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently and plan for additional resources.
  • Operation and control skills of equipment or systems.
  • Equipment selection skills to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a crane and forklift, and obtain required certifications/licenses.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under fast‑paced, time‑constraining circumstances.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
Education and Experience
  • More than one year of industrial equipment experience required; two or more years preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • MSHA certification preferred.
  • Air conditioning certification preferred.
  • Crane/Rigger certifications preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Must own required tools to perform repairs.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move objects; use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Frequently move materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lb.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; require good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet; climb up and down ladders and/or equipment.
  • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment.
