Field Ops – SCADA & Controls
$80-$140/Hour
Job OverviewTek Toro is expanding its on-the-ground automation support team. We’re looking for an experienced and qualified Automation Field Technician with a hands‑on instrument and electrical controls background. You will need a get‑it‑done mindset and can‑do attitude ready to jump into active Oil & Gas and Industrial automation projects while supporting our existing client base in South Texas. If you have well rounded Oil and Gas controls experience and are ready to work independently nurturing clients needs with a support team — we want you in the field representing Tek Toro.
DescriptionAs a Tek Toro Automation Field Technician, your role is to execute boots‑on‑the‑ground tasks that keep oilfield automation running smoothly and safely. You’ll work directly on well pads, facilities, and comms systems to install, commission, calibrate, and troubleshoot automation equipment. This is a contractor position built for technicians who are fully tooled, fully insured, and experienced working independently in field environments.
You’ll interface with our internal SCADA team as needed, but your focus will be on physical execution in the field — not programming. Tasks range from wiring RTUs and radios, verifying I/O, and setting up telemetry panels, to supporting Ignition SCADA deployments. You’ll also log all activities, photos, and milestones.
- Calibrations and commissioning of field telemetry, including level transmitters.
- Field integration and commissioning of control systems related to assets development.
- Installing and wiring hardware (PLCs, radios, sensors, comms panels, solar skids, etc.).
- Supporting Ignition SCADA deployments – bringing online, patching, and testing.
- Collaborating with control engineers and project managers.
- Tools and truck ready for field deployment (PPE, cabling tools, laptop, etc.).
- Valid tickets to be compliant onsite (must be current).
- Strong measurement background.
- Proven hands‑on experience with Allen Bradley, ABB Total Flow RTU’s and Auto Pilot RTU’s familiar with Ignition Scada System, or similar.
- Comfortable working in remote conditions.
- Nice‑to‑Haves:
Experience with various Field communication protocols: OPC‑UA, Modbus, MQTT.
This isn’t just a job—it’s a network. Tek Toro is changing how control techs and field contractors connect to jobs, data, and each other. Come be part of the crew that’s building it from the ground up.
