Job Summary

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. The RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s) and documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Responds promptly to patient requests, striving to anticipate and resolve needs proactively.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about the patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, and possible side effects, translating complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers any non‑medicinal follow‑up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes, and prepares them for future self‑management.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification obtained within 18 months of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse state of TX licensure.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS‑PALS) certification obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
  • 1 year Emergency Department experience preferred.
