This is an as needed part‑time essential services position that requires you to work day and/or night shifts, including weekends and holidays. The position is subject to the Service Contract Act and is classified as passive, meaning you will be eligible for overtime.
Hourly: $28.73/hr

Our linguists are responsible for performing real‑time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law‑enforcement agents. The linguist will also transcribe source documents and recordings from storage media, including but not limited to audio cassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities- Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre‑recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project.
- Relate all pertinent information to the client when supporting a live project.
- Contribute to a master list of slang words and codes used by a particular group or organization for the duration of the project or case.
- Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
- Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by the supervisor.
- Produce court‑ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
- Use the various reference tools created during the project.
- Ability to transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8‑hour day.
- Operate specialized software equipment provided by the government, including JSI Voice Box, Pen‑link, Comverse, and other communication‑collection equipment used at the assigned site.
- Maintain a daily लोगो of productivity.
- Perform related duties as assigned, within the scope of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree AND three (3) years’ experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND five (5) years’ experience in a professional setting OR a High School Diploma AND seven (7) years of experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language.
- Applicants may be subject to a government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements to access classified information.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
- Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
- Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and webchat.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Must meet contract requirements of a score of 3 or better on a third‑party Language Assessment (Listeningcussions/Reading/Writing) in English.
- Possess strong computer skills in MS Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. hauteur
- Work under pressure, in a fast‑paced environment, and communicate effectively with montre and law‑enforcement personnel.
- Prioritize, manage time effectively, meet stringent deadlines, balance multiple tasks, and work in Community.
- Take technical direction and feedback from various sources.
- Type at 45 words per minute.
