Position: ADJUNCT - OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT POOL

ADJUNCT - OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT POOL

ADJUNCT – OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT (OTA): Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline. Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Courses may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.

Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.

Responsibilities
  • Assign and supervise OTA students in the lab setting or provide instruction in a classroom and lab setting.
  • Advise students throughout clinical hours as needed.
  • Grade student weekly papers and evaluate students as needed in each class.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) requires an Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences.
  • Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) requires a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT).
  • Three (3) years experience as a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) OR Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR).
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.
  • Knowledge of a learning college and/or learning communities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at the secondary or college level.
  • Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
