- Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
- Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
- Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students of differing backgrounds in meeting course outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline to ensure course content and objectives are met.
- Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles.
- Project one’s voice in a strong and clear manner.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years of experience working in court reporting and/or captioning.
- OR Associate in Applied Science in Court Reporting and one or more of the following certifications by date of hire:
- National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) Certified Court Reporting Instructor
- NCRA Registered Professional Reporter (RPR)
- National Verbatim Reporting Association (NVRA) Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR)
- Texas Judicial Branch Certification Commission (JBCC) Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR)
- Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success, including learning communities.
- Experience teaching college‑level face‑to‑face/hybrid/online courses.
- Documented successful training in a college online learning management system such as Blackboard or Canvas.
- Evaluate students to measure progress toward course outcomes, following College grade and appeal procedures; review and recommend learning materials.
- Provide a written, accessible syllabus following guidelines; maintain a classroom environment that promotes learning; hold at least one hour of office hours daily; provide academic advising for declared majors; assist in marketing and recruiting.
- Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes and practices to develop action plans for program improvement and compliance.
- Participate in the self‑evaluation process; set personal and professional development goals; engage in professional development activities.
- Serve on committees; accept special assignments; participate in institutional events such as convocation, graduation, faculty meetings; maintain accreditation standards; support planning and budgeting; engage in community activities that promote the mission.
