The Transfer Admissions Counselor is responsible for the recruitment, assessment and registration of prospective transfer students. The Transfer Admissions Counselor will be the primary point of contact for transfer applicants and will be responsible for guiding students through the admission process, including application support, transcript evaluation, and transfer credit guidance. The counselor will represent Del Mar College at transfer fairs, and other recruitment events.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Three (3) years of experience in admissions, student services and academic advising.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with various student populations.
- Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM or admissions software (e.g., Element, Slate, Salesforce).
- Thorough knowledge of FERPA, transcript evaluation, and transfer credit policies.
- Strong understanding of degree plans and course articulation to advise traditional and non‑traditional transfer students.
- Excellent public speaking and written communication skills for presentations, advising, and student correspondence.
- Proven ability to build rapport with various student populations, parents, and community college partners.
- Effective management of assigned recruitment territory, institutional travel, and high‑volume, deadline‑driven responsibilities.
- Master’s degree from accredited institution.
- Experience working specifically with universities, transfer students, and community college populations.
- Knowledge of transfer credit evaluation processes and academic pathways.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

- Serve as the primary admissions advisor for prospective and admitted transfer students.
- Manage individual advising appointments with prospective transfer students (in-person, by phone, on-line).
- Assess and evaluate transfer applications for admission in accordance with specific university policies and admissions criteria.
- Assist students identify and select four-year institutions that align with their academic and career goals.
- Administer general guidance on transfer credit procedures and processes; coordinate with the Registrar’s Office as needed.
- Build relationships with universities and advisors to develop knowledge and awareness.
- Represent Del Mar College at regional events associated with transfer recruitment.
- Assist in planning on-and-off-campus events specifically for prospective transfer students (e.g., transfer open houses, virtual information sessions).
- Frequent travel to universities and recruitment events (local and regional).
- Evening and weekend hours during peak recruitment periods.
- Collaborate with College Relations to create communication and outreach materials specifically for the transfer population.
- Maintain accurate records of communication, application status, and outreach activities in the CRM system (e.g., Element, Slate, Salesforce).
- Remain current on trends in transfer admissions, university partnerships, and articulation agreements.
- Participate in partnership affiliate meetings with colleges and universities to provide guidance on curricular alignment in transfer agreements.
- Coordinate with Director of Curriculum Alignment to execute articulation agreements and memos of understanding with college and university partners.
- Explore opportunities for collaboration with peer institutions, universities and school districts to support projects related to dual enrollment programming (i.e., grants, PTECH, early college high school).
