The Opportunity High School Diploma Program Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering an innovative curriculum that prepares adult learners to earn a high school diploma and succeed in the workforce. The program emphasizes the development of critical thinking and core skills, including civics, communication, quantitative reasoning, scientific reasoning, and practical workplace skills. This position is ideal for an educator passionate about adult education and workforce development, who can adapt instruction to meet the various needs of adult learners while working in face-to-face and virtual learning environments.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree.
- One (1) year experience in classroom instruction or similar environment.
- Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met.
- Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles of students.
- Proficient in use of instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
- Five (5) years experience working in a grant-funded program.
- A teaching certificate or relevant teaching experience, preferably with adult learners or in a high school setting.
- Proven ability to teach and integrate up to five core competencies:
Civics, communication, quantitative reasoning, scientific reasoning, and workplace success skills. - Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience with online learning platforms is a plus.
