The instructor is responsible for providing classroom instruction and practical shop experience to prepare students for continuing their education and/or employment in the field of Building Maintenance and related fields. Topics include safety, hand/power tool use, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, painting, and construction technology.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate Degree in Building Maintenance or related construction fields.
- Five (5) years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline to ensure course content and objectives are met.
- Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
- Successful college teaching experience.
- Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media in instruction.
- Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Previous experience teaching in a post‑secondary setting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Maintenance or related field.

- Classroom instruction, hands‑on learning, lecturing, and assessing student progress and performance. Manage classroom discipline and continuously improve instruction quality.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting course outcomes.
- Create curriculum and instructor resources, including researching and planning skill‑appropriate activities.
- Prepare course materials such as grade sheets, attendance rosters, evaluations, and weekly time entries. Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.
- Evaluate students to measure progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within college policy and procedure. Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
