This position will assist with the development of instructional materials, course descriptions, lesson plans, and assessments for various programs including GED preparation, ESL for Professionals, Career Pathways, and other adult education initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design and curriculum development for adult learners and adult education program coordination.

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or related field
  • Master’s degree preferred
Experience
  • Proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and program coordination within adult education or workforce development settings.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE), and assessment strategies.
  • Proficiency in educational technology tools and learning management systems for course development and delivery, such as Cornerstone TCALL Professional Development Portal and Google Classroom.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience working with diverse adult learners, including English language learners and individuals seeking career advancement.
  • Familiarity with industry‑specific training and certification programs related to Career Pathways and professional development.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs.
Special Knowledge and Skills
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written communication.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, planning, and human relations skills.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with adult learners, specialists, program managers, school administration, and business/community partners.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment and ability to serve a diverse community, including low‑income families and English language learners.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work at a standalone satellite location.
  • Ability to manage and maintain a professional classroom, providing instruction to adult participants whose basic skills are below the twelfth‑grade level.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead the development and refinement of course descriptions, learning objectives, and instructional materials for GED preparation, ESL courses, Career Pathways programs, and other adult education initiatives.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructors, and program managers to design engaging and effective curriculum that aligns with a single set of learning objectives, program goals, and student needs.
  • Create detailed lesson and unit plans incorporating best practices in adult learning theory, differentiated instruction, and competency‑based education.
  • Research, evaluate, and adapt existing curriculum resources to meet the needs of diverse adult learners and target populations.
  • Develop innovative teaching strategies, educational resources, and multimedia content to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Ensure instructional materials are culturally responsive, accessible, and aligned with relevant academic standards and industry requirements.
  • Coordinate program activities related to instructional design, curriculum development, and assessment in collaboration with program leadership and stakeholders.
  • Serve as PD Coordinator to organize, track and facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions for instructors on effective teaching practices, curriculum implementation, and assessment strategies.
  • Knowledge of Texas Educating Adults Management System (TEAMS) data entry and database management.
