The purpose of this position is to coach and provide motivation to the mascot. The incumbent cultivates engaging collegiate experiences for students through the mascot and represents the institution in a manner that builds positive branding in surrounding communities. Also assist in creating a positive campus life for students.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate degree.
- One (1) year directly related experience in coaching or performing.
- OR
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent. - Three (3) years of directly related experience in coaching or performing.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Associate’s degree.

- Represents DMC and the College’s mission and core values in a positive and friendly manner through the management of performances/appearances on and off campus.
- Coaches and motivates the mascot(s) through proper training with regular meetings/practices.
- Commits entirely to assigned schedule for Viking appearances on and off campus.
- Follows established procedures to ensure that the mascot(s) scheduled performances are conducted in a timely manner with performer in character and ready to appear.
- Establishes and maintains standards of behavior and provides proper coaching for improvement by creating/updating policy and procedures manual.
- Monitors academic performance of student(s) to ensure eligibility requirements are met by utilizing Datatel student information system.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
- Maintains Viking costume care, including cleaning and required maintenance.
- Create/advertise and conduct auditions as needed in order to maintain an active database of mascots.
- Responsible for monitoring time sheets and inputting information in a timely manner as well as perform other duties assigned by Director such campus events and activities throughout the academic year.
- Be an integral part of the Student Leadership & Campus Life department by assisting with daily operations as well as assisting with planning and set-up of activities and events throughout the academic year, which includes Fall, Spring and Summer.
