Art Teacher – SST – Corpus Christi Elementary
School of Science and Technology seeks an Art Teacher for Corpus Christi Elementary. The teacher will work full‑time and contribute to the district’s educational mission.
Pay RangeBase salary: $55,500 – $80,000 per year. Actual pay is based on experience and qualifications.
Job Role sProvide students with learning activities and experiences in assigned subject areas to support intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Meet Texas “highly qualified” standards.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Effective written and oral communication with all management levels.
- Ability to develop effective relationships within and outside the district.
- Computer proficiency (software, databases, spreadsheet, word processing).
- Interview techniques, public speaking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Plan a program of study that meets students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate to student maturity.
- Prepare lessons that accommodate individual differences.
- Show written evidence of preparation upon supervisor’s request.
- Encourage students to set and maintain behavior standards.
- Guide learning toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Use varied instructional techniques and media suitable to the classroom and students.
- Implement the district’s philosophy, goals, and objectives through instruction and action.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports.
- Refer students for evaluation by district specialists when needed.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and policy.
- Assist administration with policies governing student life and conduct.
- Develop and enforce reasonable classroom behavior rules.
- Maintain order in a fair, just manner.
- Be available to students and parents for educational matters.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers; evaluate their performance.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Participate in district and campus staff development.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
- Communicate openly with students, parents, and community members.
- Submit lesson plans promptly in the school’s platform.
- Keep grades in the Gradebook up‑to‑date.
- Meet mentor teacher regularly if new.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Light work; occasional light lifting.
- Office setting; prolonged work at a desk.
- Moderate travel required.
