Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need, and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and community. Courses may include online courses and/or dual‑credit/early college classes.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outlines to ensure course content and objectives are met.
- Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles of students.
- Have successful college teaching experience.
- Utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other media.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Science in Building Maintenance or related construction field AND five (5) years of work experience in Building Maintenance or related construction fields.
- OR Ten (10) years of related work experience AND agreement to an action plan to complete an Associate of Applied Science in Building Maintenance or a related construction degree within 36 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies that enhance student success.
- Knowledge of a learning college and/or learning communities.
- Experience teaching college‑level online courses and/or documented success in a college online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).

Job Duties
- Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
- Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
- Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing backgrounds in meeting course outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Evaluate students to measure progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the College grade and grade appeals procedures.
- Review, evaluate, recommend, and use student learning materials effectively.
- Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines.
- Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
- Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours of at least one hour daily and encourage conferences with students.
- Assist in academic advising of declared majors and with marketing programs and recruiting students.
- Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes and practices to implement systemic improvement.
- Participate in the self‑evaluation process.
- Establish goals and objectives, including personal and professional development plans.
- Maintain professional standards of competence through professional development.
- Serve on committees and accept special assignments occasionally.
- Participate in scheduled institutional activities (convocation, graduation, etc.).
- Participate in department, divisional, and College meetings.
- Participate in College‑related activities such as registration and selection of faculty.
- Participate in activities required to maintain program and College accreditation standards.
- Assist in the College planning process by contributing to goals, objectives, and budget priorities.
- Participate in business and/or community activities that promote the mission of the College.
