Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need, and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and community. Courses may include online courses and/or dual‑credit/early college classes.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outlines to ensure course content and objectives are met.
• Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles of students.
• Have successful college teaching experience.
• Utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other media.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate of Applied Science in Building Maintenance or related construction field AND five (5) years of work experience in Building Maintenance or related construction fields.
• OR Ten (10) years of related work experience AND agreement to an action plan to complete an Associate of Applied Science in Building Maintenance or a related construction degree within 36 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies that enhance student success.
• Knowledge of a learning college and/or learning communities.
• Experience teaching college‑level online courses and/or documented success in a college online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).

Job Duties

• Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
• Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
• Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
• Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing backgrounds in meeting course outcomes.
• Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Evaluate students to measure progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the College grade and grade appeals procedures.
• Review, evaluate, recommend, and use student learning materials effectively.
• Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines.
• Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
• Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours of at least one hour daily and encourage conferences with students.
• Assist in academic advising of declared majors and with marketing programs and recruiting students.
• Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes and practices to implement systemic improvement.
• Participate in the self‑evaluation process.
• Establish goals and objectives, including personal and professional development plans.
• Maintain professional standards of competence through professional development.
• Serve on committees and accept special assignments occasionally.
• Participate in scheduled institutional activities (convocation, graduation, etc.).
• Participate in department, divisional, and College meetings.
• Participate in College‑related activities such as registration and selection of faculty.
• Participate in activities required to maintain program and College accreditation standards.
• Assist in the College planning process by contributing to goals, objectives, and budget priorities.
