Instructors work on a contract/part‑time basis to teach BLS courses (CPR/AED and First Aid training) under the American Heart Association curriculum. Instructors facilitate video presentations, instructor lectures, skills demonstrations, assess students, answer questions, and complete post‑course rosters and paperwork. The position may require traveling.
Minimum Qualifications- Certifications in a related field and/or a high school diploma.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
- Must be an American Heart Association instructor (BLS) – NOT American Red Cross.
- Available as needed (Saturdays and during the week).
- Outstanding public speaking skills.
- Ability to teach effectively in an adult learning environment.
- Responsible and punctual.
- Ability to teach/organize independently.
- Ability to communicate course material in a clear and understandable manner.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insurable by Del Mar College.
- One or more year(s) of teaching experience.
- Certifications in the area of expertise required to teach.
- At least two years of field experience with an approved certification or licensure in instructional discipline.
