Position SummaryThe successful applicant will provide quality instruction in all phases of Instrumentation Technology and related areas including safety instrumented systems, automation programming and development, repair, inspection and calibration of industrial instrumentation equipment and technologies.
The Adjunct Instructor may teach online courses and/or dual‑credit/early college classes at various times and locations in response to institutional need.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate of Applied Science in Instrumentation degree and five (5) years of documented work experience in Instrumentation/Automation or a related field.
- OR – Eight (8) or more years of documented work experience in Instrumentation/Automation or related work experience.
- Experience in teaching.
- Ten (10) or more years experience in Industrial Instrumentation Technology.
- Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor and assist both new and returning students in achieving their educational goals and objectives.
- Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outlines to ensure course content and objectives are met.
- Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
- Ability to utilize instructional technologies including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
- Ensure syllabi, course outlines and class instruction meet state and industry standards.
- Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the course syllabus guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work.
- Teach courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
- Demonstrate knowledge and abilities in the teaching discipline.
- Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting course outcomes.
- Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
- Evaluate students to measure progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
- Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours of at least one hour daily and be available for and encourage conferences with students so there is a clearer understanding of the students’ work and potential areas for improvement.
