Job SummaryThe purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Courses may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities- Plan course instruction based on approved syllabus/outline to ensure course content and objectives are met.
- Use a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
- Teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Apply teaching strategies and methods that enhance student success.
- Understand and support learning communities and a learning college.
- Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
- Successful college teaching experience.
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline.
- Experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
- Experience teaching college-level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).

- Teach five (5) courses per regular semester, which may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes.
- Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations based on institutional need.
- Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates clear understanding of content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule.
- Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
- Hold scheduled virtual or physical office hours of at least one hour daily and be available for and encourage conferences with students to clarify coursework and support improvement.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the College grading and grade-appeals procedures.
- Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
- Assist in academic advising of declared majors.
- Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting course outcomes.
- Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes and program practices, implementing action plans to improve program effectiveness and ensure compliance with professional standards, state mandates, and accreditation requirements.
- Participate in the self-evaluation process and establish goals and objectives, including professional development plans, in consultation with the Department Chair.
- Maintain professional standards of competence in the discipline and teaching methodology through professional development and engagement activities.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Accept occasional special assignments.
- Participate in department, divisional, and College meetings.
- Participate in activities required to maintain program and College accreditation standards.
- Meet professional assignments in accordance with the College calendar.
- Participate in business and/or community activities that promote the mission of the College.
