ADJUNCT – COURT REPORTING POOL
Position SummaryThe purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need, and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community that could include face‑to‑face, hybrid or online courses and/or dual‑credit/early college classes.
Minimum Qualifications- Three (3) years of experience working in court reporting and/or captioning.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Or an Associate in Applied Science in Court Reporting and one or more of the following certifications by the date of hire:
- Certified Court Reporting Instructor by the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA).
- Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) by NCRA.
- Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR) by the National Verbatim Reporting Association (NVRA).
- Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) by the Texas Judicial Branch Certification Commission (JBCC).
- Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies that enhance student success, including learning communities.
- Experience teaching college‑level face‑to‑face, hybrid, or online courses.
- Documented success in a college online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
- Evaluate students: Measure progress toward course outcomes, review and recommend student learning materials, and follow grade and appeals procedures.
- Provide syllabus and maintain classroom environment: Give written and accessible syllabus, hold daily office hours (virtual or physical), and offer conferences with students; assist in academic advising, marketing and recruiting.
- Assess and revise assessments: Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes, and develop action plans for systemic improvement.
- Self‑evaluation and professional development: Participate in self‑evaluation, establish goals and objectives, and maintain professional standards through development and engagement activities.
- Special assignments: Accept occasional special assignments, participate in accreditation requirements, and engage in community activities that promote the mission of the college.
