Are you a skilled and compassionate nurse with a passion for making a difference in the lives of cancer patients? Our outpatient clinic in Corona is looking for a Per Diem, Radiation Oncology Nurse to become a key player in our dynamic team.
As a key member of our ambulatory radiation oncology team, you will play a vital role in supporting our provider and delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing active treatment. In this dynamic role, you will assess and manage up to 30 patients on active radiation therapy plans, provide patient education, monitor and manage treatment-related side effects, and perform daily toxicity assessments.
Responsibilities also include triaging patient phone calls, coordinating care to ensure seamless transitions, and floating to the infusion area as needed.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Responsibilities- The nurse will support providers with consults and follow-ups.
- Perform patient education.
- Start IVs for CT simulations with contrast, coordinate chemotherapy.
- Triage patient concerns related to their radiation therapy treatments and care related questions on side effects and wound care.
- Help support the patient’s health literacy by providing patient education and answering clinical questions related to their care plan.
- Assist in coordinating PEG tube placement and dental clearance for head and neck patients.
- Assist in the radiation oncology care plan for cardiac devices.
- Navigate the patient and caregivers through barriers to care to aid in providing timely treatment, acting as a liaison with other service lines (e.g., financial counselors, social services, transportation).
- Support the patient and caregivers in quality-of-life goals and survivorship.
- 10-hour shift, Monday - Friday (7:45am - 4:15pm).
- Overtime will be required 1-2 days per week.
Your qualifications should include:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in nursing is required
- Three to five years related experience
- Current California Registered Nurse License
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Must have excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills
Preferred qualifications should include:
- Bilingual preferred
- Two (2) years of radiation oncology experience working in a physician’s office or hospital
- ONS or OCN certification
