Key Responsibilities- Compliance Risk Assessment & Analysis:
Conduct regular evaluations of operational processes to identify areas of non‑compliance and potential vulnerabilities; recommend proactive measures to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory alignment; build and operate compliance analytics to identify trends, anomalies, and emerging risks; translate complex data into clear insights for leadership. - Development & Implementation of SOPs:
Design and maintain clear, actionable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and compliance policies; ensure consistent application across all business units to minimize risk and enhance operational integrity. - Compliance Monitoring & Performance Tracking:
Utilize tracking tools and reporting systems to monitor adherence to policies; issue timely notices and elevate concerns in accordance with established protocols; maintain an up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory development and trends that apply to the business area; revise and modify company policies to minimize risk of legal non‑compliance issues. - Corrective Action Leadership:
Partner with HRM’s, District Managers and RDO’s to implement corrective measures; provide strategic guidance to drive continuous improvement and accountability. - Training &
Education:
Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees and managers; reinforce understanding of policies, procedures and expectations through engaging and effective learning experiences. - Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, notices and disciplinary actions; ensure documentation aligns with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements; liaise with legal attorneys to address legal compliance issues; prepare audit reports and present findings to senior management and compliance committees.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of field safety professionals; set clear expectations, hold accountability and foster a culture of trust, motivation and continuous growth.
- Enforce safety protocols with consistency and fairness, modeling best practices while inspiring others through example.
- Maintain resilience and patience when facing challenges, demonstrating adaptability in dynamic field environments.
- Emotional intelligence: manage one’s own emotions and those of others effectively.
- Problem‑solving: identify root causes and implement strategic solutions; adapt leadership style to different personalities and environments.
- Assertiveness: set boundaries and expectations firmly while maintaining fairness.
- Empathy & support: understand team perspectives and foster a positive, supportive culture; conflict resolution: mediate disagreements constructively and promote collaboration.
- Resilience: maintain composure, persistence and patience in the face of challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field.
- OSHA 30‑Hour Certification
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent
- Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) is a plus
- Minimum 5 years of experience in safety, compliance or risk management within retail, fuel or multi‑site operations.
- Proven track record of managing regulatory compliance programs and workplace safety initiatives.
- Experience conducting audits, investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Strong understanding of federal, state and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ADA, labor laws, tobacco/alcohol sales).
- Familiarity with California‑specific employment and safety laws.
- Ability to develop and enforce policies and procedures across diverse teams.
- Excellent communication and training facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in compliance and safety management systems (e.g., NAVEX, Workday, incident tracking platforms).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross‑functionally.
$95,000-$115,000 Annual
