Responsibilities

Provides Patient Care Services Representative coverage based on Clinic requirements. Assumes all Patient Care Services Representative job responsibilities.

  • Cooperate in the cross‑training of this position to ensure adequate coverage at all times; cooperate in being cross‑trained to another position to ensure coverage at all times.
  • May travel between departments and facilities to assist in coverage as required.
  • Assist in training of Patient Care Services staff (e.g., classroom, on‑the‑job settings).
  • Responsible for following and keeping each provider’s schedule (i.e., out‑of‑office meetings, lunches, and/or vacations). Update provider’s calendar as needed in computer.
  • Schedule new and established patients according to the approved Clinic guidelines of each practitioner and the appointment scheduling policies and procedures.
  • Verify and update patient information following patient registration criteria; obtain copies of insurance card and collect payments and inform patients of payment responsibility. Make corrections into computer immediately.
  • Make return appointments for patients within the scheduling guidelines. Cancel and reschedule patients as needed.
  • Follow protocol for all patients’ check‑in.
  • Process daily tic sheets grouped by provider and ensure their balance with the edit. Process hospital charges for assigned provider on a daily basis. If assigned by department keep database in order and store in per protocol.
  • Take messages for office staff and providers as requested and when appropriate.
  • Duties may vary arising to assignment (e.g., check‑in or appointment scheduling for Patient Service Representative).
  • Filing documents daily in medical records.

Hours

8 am‑5 pm Monday – Friday

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Must have general office experience, with a minimum of two years medical office experience required. Possess general clerical, computer, and telephone skills.

  • Uphold and support the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the Riverside Medical Clinic.
  • Assume responsibility for initiating a pleasant, patient‑oriented atmosphere by displaying a professional attitude through performance, appearance, and demeanor.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Annually participate and complete required health screening.
  • Adhere to Safety Program as outlined in Core Competencies and Injury, Illness and Prevention Program.
  • Maintain professional composure and confidence during stressful situations.
  • Maintain open communication using appropriate chain of command regarding issues.
  • Presents neat appearance in proper attire and identification as required by the position, department and RMC policy.
