The Controller will lead the company’s accounting and financial management functions overseeing all accounting operations including financial reporting and providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations- Manage all day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions within the company’s accounting system.
- Maintain the integrity of financial data and ensure proper documentation for all financial activities.
- Oversee reconciliation of accounts, bank statements, and financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for leadership review.
- Analyze financial results and provide insight into key trends, variances, and operational performance.
- Provide financial reports and data that support informed decision‑making by leadership.
- Ensure financial reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Monitor company cash flow and maintain visibility into the organization’s financial position.
- Assist leadership in planning and managing financial resources to support operational needs.
- Ensure proper financial controls are in place to safeguard company assets and maintain financial discipline.
- Coordinate with external accounting firms, tax professionals, or auditors when necessary.
- Provide insight into operational costs and opportunities for improved financial efficiency.
- Work closely with the President to support budgeting, financial planning, and business strategy.
- Assist with financial forecasting and long‑term financial planning.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Support leadership in evaluating financial risks and opportunities related to business growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
- Prior Controller or senior accounting experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Quick Books and financial reporting systems.
- Experience in food manufacturing, food distribution, or inventory‑based businesses preferred.
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on in a small business environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
