Design Engineer – Fans Portfolio Location
This is a Remote role. Our ideal locations are Corona, CA or Southern California.
Position SummaryWe are seeking a talented and innovative Ceiling Fan Design Engineer to drive the development of cutting‑edge, high‑performance ceiling fans for residential and light commercial applications. This role will lead the end‑to‑end design process, from concept to production, integrating advanced motor systems, LED technology, and smart home connectivity. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on problem‑solver with deep expertise in motor technologies, energy efficiency, and compliance standards, coupled with a passion for creating quiet, sustainable, and aesthetically superior fan systems.

Key Responsibilities- Design & Development – Lead the design and development of ceiling fans, integrating AC/DC/BLDC motor technologies, motor controls, LED lighting, and smart home connectivity (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Alexa, Google Home).
- Performance Optimization – Conduct airflow, noise, and energy efficiency analyses to ensure exceptional product performance and compliance with standards (UL/ETL, Energy Star, DOE, JA8/Title 24).
- Technical Expertise – Develop and validate motor control circuits, LED driver systems, and smart home integrations, ensuring reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
- CAD & Documentation – Create detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using tools like Solid Works, Autodesk, or Creo.
- Prototyping & Testing – Oversee prototype builds, coordinate lab/field testing, and perform root‑cause analysis to validate performance and resolve issues.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Partner with design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM), cost efficiency, and product feasibility.
- Supplier Management – Collaborate with overseas suppliers (primarily in Asia) to ensure product specifications, quality, and on‑time delivery.
- Sustainability & Innovation – Drive initiatives for energy efficiency, cost optimization, and next‑generation technology integration to enhance product competitiveness.
- Technical Leadership – Deliver executive‑level updates on project progress and risks. Mentor junior engineers.
- Post‑Production Support – Offer technical support for installation, warranty issues, and field troubleshooting as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in consumer product development, with 3+ years focused on ceiling fans or similar motorized systems.
- Expertise in motor technologies (AC, DC, BLDC) and control methods (TRIAC, PWM, vector control).
- Proficiency in LED systems, including driver integration, dimming, and thermal management.
- Experience with smart home technologies and wireless protocols (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth).
- Advanced skills in 3D CAD software (Solid Works, Autodesk, Creo, or similar) and BOM management.
