  • Position Description

    RICE Services Inc., (A 100% employee-owned ESOP) is looking to hire an organized, professional Senior Plumbing Multi-Family Estimator to join our team. We are seeking individual to complement our team.

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate actions and decisions that align with our company Core Values of Respect, Intigrity, Safety and Quality.

    In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise in estimating plumbing systems for multi-family developments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency from concept to completion.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Review project specifications, blueprints, and plans to determine plumbing requirements for multi-family construction projects.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for plumbing systems, including materials, labor, equipment, and other related expenses.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify project details.
  • Analyze and assess potential risks and opportunities related to plumbing installations and suggest cost-effective solutions.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to create comprehensive bid proposals and ensure consistency in estimates.
  • Update and maintain a database of historical costs, current pricing, and supplier information to enhance estimating accuracy.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather critical information and ensure accurate estimate preparation.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure timely submission of bids.
  • Monitor market trends, industry standards, and building codes to ensure compliance and adaptability in estimates.
  • Provide support and guidance to the project team during the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with the estimated budget.
  • Assist in negotiating contract terms and conditions related to plumbing scope with clients and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and present estimates, budgets, and progress reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve estimating processes and methodologies for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Must have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 25lb. objects upstairs and be able to crawl under tables and climb ladders. Abel to perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as scaffolding and high lift equipment.

    While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to use their hands regularly to handle objects, tools, controls, and equipment. The employee must be able to walk, sit and stand. The employee occasionally lifts up to and occasionally kneels and bends.

    Position Requirements

    Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in plumbing estimation, preferably in multi-family residential projects.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficient in estimation software such as FastPIPE, Trimble, or similar.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional certification, such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), is a plus.
  • To maintain a safe workplace, employment is contingent upon successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment physical.
