Position: Library Support Specialist I

Cornelius Public Library is a municipal library located in Cornelius, Oregon. We serve as a vibrant hub for community engagement, providing resources, programs, and services that foster lifelong learning, literacy, and cultural enrichment.

Role Description

The Library Support Specialist I (SSI) plays a meaningful and visible role in supporting daily library operations and ensuring an excellent patron experience. This is a full time position, 40 hours a week, with a set schedule of Tuesday-Saturday with some evenings required.

This full-time, on-site position includes:

  • Assisting patrons with library resources, technology, and general inquiries
  • Supporting and leading library programs and community partnerships
  • Organizing and maintaining library materials and systems
  • Helping patrons navigate complex systems and access community services
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth library operations

We are seeking someone who is approachable, resourceful, and passionate about connecting community members with the services and support they need. The SSI helps remove barriers to access, strengthens community relationships, and contributes to the welcoming environment we strive to create every day.

We are especially looking for someone who is eager to learn new tasks, grow professionally, and adapt to the evolving needs of our community.

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities in the Position Description is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • Education:

    A High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience:

    One (1) year of experience working in a library, performing circulation and customer service, or other similar experience
