Overview
Novant Health Ortho & Sports Jetton clinic is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator IV. The PSC IV is responsible for processing referrals at least 50% of the time and/or performing Dimensions super‑user functions such as practice support with EPIC or working the miscellaneous work queues. The position is fast‑paced, answering phones, check‑in/out and surgery scheduling.
Key Responsibilities- Process referrals, obtain all necessary information from the patient and provider to ensure accuracy and completeness of the referral.
- Explain insurance carrier guidelines for referrals, schedule referrals or give patients the necessary information so they can schedule at the referring physician’s office.
- Communicate complete and accurate information to the patient.
- Resolve Work Queues in Epic, including Follow Up, Claim Edit, Charge Review, Missing Guarantor and other queue errors & denials through research and analysis.
- Research and analyze denials, correct errors to ensure charges are captured and processed, and meet or exceed site error goals.
- Respond to patients and staff for billing and insurance questions, ensuring charges drop for claims processing.
- Work closely with practice coder in the resolution process.
- Enter necessary patient demographics for new patients; verify information for established patients when scheduling appointments.
- Choose appointment time based on patient request, physician/provider availability and urgency of appointment.
- Generate a hard copy of appointment schedules.
- Maintain communication with co‑workers, participate in regular staff meetings, identify areas of improvement, and actively participate in the improvement process.
- Travel between clinics in Denver, Cornelius, Mooresville and Huntersville.
- High School Diploma (required).
- Three years of experience in a medical office setting, or related experience considered.
- Knowledge of medical office software for updating patient demographics, posting charges, copays, and scheduling appointments.
- Understanding of CPT and ICD9‑CM coding processes.
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work with changing priorities.
- Excellent organizational, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Team‑player with initiative.
- Basic medical terminology; high level working knowledge of EPIC systems.
- Detailed knowledge of multiple payors’ billing requirements and familiarity with coding requirements for practice specialty.
