Job Summary
To oversee and direct quality patient care in the 5 Tower Nursing Unit as well as administer direct patient care. Consults with staff, physicians and administration on problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in committee activities. Assists in formulating budget. Accountable for professional growth within the department.

An Associate's degree from an accredited school of nursing is required. A Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred and must be completed within 3 years of accepting the position. Must maintain continuing education hours as required by state of residence licensure.
Certification / Licensure RequirementsLicensed as a registered nurse by the state of Mississippi or has a compact state licensure as a registered nurse in the state of residence. ACLS, PALS, TNCC or PHTLS are required within one year of the hire date.
Experience- Three years' experience as a registered nurse in a medical/surgical department setting is preferred.
- Management/staffing experience (supervisor, charge nurse, etc.).
- Able to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Meditech.
- English required.
- Multilingual capabilities enhance the ability to perform this job.
- Must have the ability to speak effectively and professionally to all staff, management, and all outside individuals at all levels from elementary to professional.
- Must have the ability to apply non-judgmental reasoning capabilities whenever necessary when dealing with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Critical thinking and multitasking skills a must.
- Must have reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do.
