We are currently looking for a Inspector for a local scrap yard in Corinth,Ms. The hours are Monday – Friday 7am – 5 pm and every other Saturday 7am-noon. Must be able to lift +75lbs for a straight 10hr shift.
The Inspector is responsible for observing and monitoring the delivery of material to verify conformance to quality and quantity specifications, while ensuring that all his/her efforts are compliant with the company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The inspector is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and grading inbound and outbound loads of scrap metal.
Duties may include assisting with daily production operations, as well as receiving and stockpiling of materials and products. Work Environment:

- Responsible for inspecting incoming customer loads for acceptable and non-acceptable materials.
- This includes identifying non-conforming items and properly pointing these out to customers and deducting weight as needed.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to handle stressful situations.
- Ensure that customers follow proper procedures for selling recyclable materials.
- Help guide semi-trucks in & out of yard and maintain an efficient traffic pattern for all vehicles.
- Communicate very clearly with the weigh master/scale clerks and machine operator for each load.
- Sort materials for processing as directed and move items to designated storage areas daily.
- Assist with unloading materials for customers one at a time.
- Clean and maintain work area daily.
- Comply with all safety guidelines.
- Properly follow company safety procedures.
- Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
- Inspect shipments of scrap metal received, to ensure material meets specifications and is free from hazards in accordance with scrap acceptance policy.
- Correctly identify and record inspection data such as weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap metal through documentation, pictures, and reports.
- Assist and direct suppliers with inbound scrap deliveries and unloading in the correct commodity pile and/or processing area.
- Direct the unloading of vehicles delivering scrap to ensure safe and orderly traffic flow within the facility.
- Complete inbound inspection grader reports for every load that enters the yard.
- Notify supervisors of problems and assist in recommending remedial procedures to correct violations or issues encountered during inspection.
- Collaborate with Supervisors and team members concerning quality and consistency of customer deliveries.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in yard as needed.
