Patient Care Technician

Location:

4 Tower, Bed Side Nursing – Magnolia Regional Health Center, Corinth, MS

Provides direct patient care in an individual patient care setting, consistent with the nursing department’s standards of care. Meets the communication needs of patients/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge. Prepares and compiles medical records. Initiates directions from physicians and nursing staff. Participates in performance improvement activities. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures, and standards.

Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits; and treats staff, physicians, and families with consideration and respect. Will cross train as Monitor Tech.

• High school graduate or GED required.

• Medical clerk or nursing assistant experience preferred but not required.

• English required.
• Multilingual capabilities enhance performance.
• Must be able to speak effectively and in a professional manner to staff, management, and outside individuals.

• Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers.
• Ability to perform operations with units such as cup, pint, and quart; inch, foot, and yard; ounce and pound.

• Ability to apply non‑judgmental reasoning when dealing with patients, staff, visitors, and employees.
• Critical thinking and multitasking skills are a must.
• Reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do.
