Under the leadership of the Administrator and the Director of Nursing, Quality Improvement is an active member of the department that collects data and analyzes quality trends within the nursing home. The Quality Assurance nurse is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the day to day operations within the facility. The Quality Assurance nurse will conduct facility level quality reviews and audits and is responsible for the development of policies and procedures, and strategic planning for assigned areas.

Qualifications
  • Education:

Requires a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing or a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration or Quality Improvement is preferred.

  • Experience:

Requires five to seven years of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Licensure, Registrations &

    Certifications:

Requires a current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse and is listed in good standing with the state’s Department of Professional Credentialing.

  • Manages the performance improvement process by conducting PI meetings, PI focus groups and ensuring action plans are developed in regard to any falls, pressure ulcers, restraints, weight loss and any other areas of focus.
  • Manages the Infection Control program by conducting education with staff as needed, tracking infections along use antibiotic stewardship.
  • Converts CRHS’s vision and goals into actionable plans and directions related to the operation of the Quality Improvement.
  • Works with the clinical staff to develop, update and implement the Quality Improvement strategic and annual plans.
  • Takes a proactive approach in conducting risk assessments and any surveillance/audits
  • Consistently rounds daily on residents to ensure and promote a standard of quality care.
  • Provides leadership in the delivery of quality services and support.
  • Performs the following monthly audits on narcotic, med-stock, carts, insulin, nail care and all other audits needed to maintain high levels of quality care.
  • Observations should be made monthly in regard to CNA peri care. Also, observation should be made on all new hires in regard to medication and G-Tube medication.
  • Works to continually improve the quality of the nursing home care and services through a rigorous quality improvement process.
  • Prepares, implements and manages all quality initiatives and related policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Conducts the following audits on the wonder guard checks weekly. Also audits skin assessments to ensure no residents are missed and they are scheduled on each shift.
  • Works the med cart and/or wound cart as needed.
  • Provides staff the opportunities to participate in staff development and regularly schedules in-service programs.
  • Utilizes technology to analyze and develop statistical measures of the Quality Improvement Department’s performance metrics, reports and programs.
  • Ensures the continuous survey readiness of any and all regulatory agencies including CMS and other governmental agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
