DLI Teacher Job Description
The mission of dual language immersion is to prepare linguistically and culturally competent students who can successfully compete in a complex global economy. In the Crisp County Primary School Dual Language Immersion Program, instruction is divided between two classrooms: one English and one immersion (target language), with 50 percent of the academic day taught in English and 50 percent in the target language.
Students benefit from two caring, highly qualified teachers. The English-speaking teacher focuses on English Language Arts, literacy, and content area support; the immersion teacher focuses on math, science, social studies, and target language literacy.
- Develop lesson plans and deliver group and individual instruction within established curriculum guidelines in the target language.
- Collaborate with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators to address instructional and classroom issues and respond to inquiries from students, parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress.
- Provide instruction in Spanish to support student achievement in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through defined lesson plans.
- Familiar with the Estrellita curriculum.
- Adapt classroom work to provide instructional materials addressing individualized learning plans within established lesson plans in the target language.
- Administer tests and language assessments to evaluate students’ language ability.
- Prepare a variety of written materials in English and Spanish to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Ability to demonstrate advanced-level language proficiency in Spanish and English; knowledge of target language cultural practices and perspectives.
- Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or eligible GSW Intern (prior approval needed). - Certification/Licensing:
Valid or eligible for a GA Teacher’s Certificate in EC P-5. - Proficiency:
Written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish; student management, supervisory, and leadership skills; ability to employ diverse instructional strategies; ability to manage multiple tasks and strong computer, organizational, and interpersonal skills. - Personal

Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical stamina to perform essential duties. - Salary:
Georgia/Local Certified Salary Schedule – 10 month teacher.
- Demonstrates appropriate verbal and written communication skills.

- Uses a variety of teaching strategies and resources appropriate for students.
- Assesses and supports student progress, promotes engagement, monitors progress, and responds to performance levels.
- Manages the learning environment with efficient use of time and appropriate behavior management.
- Provides information, plans, and materials for substitutes.
- Participates in professional organizations and staff development.
- Shares information and applies what is learned to the classroom.
- Embraces new challenges professionally.
- Facilitates home-school communication and collaborates with colleagues; provides good customer service.
- Enhances the climate and morale of the building.
- Accepts constructive criticism and follows up on actions for performance improvement.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Completes reports and duties promptly and professionally.
