Overview

Behavioral Health Professional - ASP (ISUDT) is a full-time position located at Avenal State Prison (ASP), Avenal, CA. The role supports the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT) within Medical Services, Integrated Care & Complex Patient Populations Division.

• Diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders within the context of marriage, couples and family systems, in accordance with applicable Business and Professions Code(s) and license.
• Refer incarcerated patients to other licensed health care professionals following standardized procedures.
• Travel to other CDCR adult institutions may be required.

• Education:
  
  Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited program that meets Business and Professional Code 4980.36 requirements.
• Licensure:
  Valid Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science.
• If not licensed at the time of application, eligible applicants may be admitted into examination and appointed if they secure licensure within four years of appointment; unlicensed applicants may be appointed for up to one year with potential extensions and licensure requirements described in the policy.

California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) supports an integrated substance use treatment approach. This position supports the ISUDT initiative to provide specialized care to patients with a history of substance use, aiming to promote successful reintegration and reduce recidivism.
