Position: Psychologist
Location: Correctional Facility in Corcoran, California
Pay Rate: $144.64 to $146.64 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 6 to 9-month contract with potential for extension

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 months of experience within the last 3 years providing direct patient care in a public or private institution
  • Current clinical competencies
  • Valid photo  (Drivers License or Passport)
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Valid California Psychologist license (physical hard copy required)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological care to mentally ill inmates under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist or Chief of Mental Health
  • Maintain safety and order while supervising the conduct of inmate-patients
  • Serve as clinician-of-the-day for on-call emergencies during assigned shifts
  • Collaborate effectively with staff across all departments to ensure quality patient care
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations including history of mental illness, criminal behavior, and substance use
  • Deliver crisis intervention, group therapy, and one-on-one assessments
  • Perform cell-front interviews and navigate multi-level housing units as needed
  • Identify psychiatric symptoms, assess and diagnose conditions, and develop treatment strategies
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological assessments
  • Prepare clinical reports and individualized treatment plans aligned with professional standards
  • Participate in case consultations and interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including SOAPE-formatted progress notes and mental status exams
  • Review prior medical and legal documentation to support clinical decisions
  • Build connections with community agencies, support networks, and residential programs
  • Lead mental health education initiatives and develop resources for patients
  • Support inmates in accessing public assistance and community-based services
  • Analyze audit data and contribute to compliance with mental health program standards
  • Provide accurate information to caregivers upon proper authorization
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and caregivers
  • Represent the mental health department in professional settings
  • Contribute ideas for new mental health programs and rehabilitation efforts
