Junior/Graduate Design Engineer
Corby
Salary - Competitive DOE
Here’s your chance to join a growing engineering team where your ideas genuinely matter. This role would suit someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, creating well-engineered products, and seeing designs come to life on the shop floor. You’ll play a key part in developing bespoke equipment and systems that are built to a high standard and tailored to customer needs.
If you’re looking for variety, ownership, and the satisfaction of taking a design from concept through to manufacture, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
Creating 3D models of components and assemblies using Inventor
Producing clear, accurate 2D drawings for laser cutting, welding, and assembly
Preparing AutoCAD LT layouts
Writing product manuals and technical documentation
Performing engineering calculations and finite element analysis
Ensuring all designs meet relevant ISO and Health & Safety standards
Building product structures and BoMs in Sage X3
Supporting the development of new products through research, testing, and validation
Working closely with production, purchasing, service, and sales to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and ready for manufacture
Visiting customer sites when required to support real-world applications
Your First 12 Months
You’ll start by getting hands-on with the product range and shaping designs for the company’s core equipment. Over your first year, you’ll gradually move into larger, more complex projects—eventually playing a key role in creating completely new products that align with future sales strategies.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll be a practical problem-solver with an eye for detail and a passion for turning ideas into engineered solutions. The ideal person will have:
Essential
Experience designing machinery, sheet-metal parts, and/or machined components
Strong 3D modelling skills (Inventor or similar)
2D drafting experience (AutoCAD)
Confident engineering calculation ability
Good communication skills and the ability to build strong internal relationships
Strong organisational skills and great attention to detail
A proactive mindset and the ability to work independently
Good Microsoft Office skills
Flexibility and a positive, “can-do” approach Desirable
Previous experience in a similar manufacturing environment
Understanding of risk analysis and machinery directives
Full UK driving licence
You’ll be joining a team where engineering is at the heart of the business. The products you design will directly support production, sales, customer satisfaction, and the company’s long-term success. Your contribution genuinely makes a difference.
Additional Information
Occasional customer-site visits may be required. Priorities can shift quickly, so you’ll need to be adaptable and comfortable managing changing schedules. Duties may evolve over time to support the needs of the business.
