Corrections RN - 13-Week Contract (2nd Shift)

Location: Coralville, IA Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 2pm-10pm Assignment Length: 13 weeks Start Date: ASAP Weekends: Every other weekend required

Position Overview

A Corrections Registered Nurse is needed for an immediate 13-week contract in Coralville, IA. This role is ideal for an RN who is confident working in a secure facility, can adapt quickly, and is comfortable providing high-quality care in a corrections environment. You'll join a supportive team and play a vital role in patient care within the facility.

Compensation

• Local RN: $58/hour
• Travel RN: $2,606/week
  • Travel status requires permanent residence 50+ miles from the facility.

Shift Details

• 2nd shift: 2pm-10pm
• 8-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required

Requirements

• Active RN license (IA or compact)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (corrections experience preferred but not required)
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to pass background and compliance screenings
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to incarcerated individuals
• Perform assessments, administer medications, and respond to medical needs
• Collaborate with onsite medical and security staff
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow facility protocols
• Ensure safety and compliance within a secure environment

The Correctional RN works in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, correctional officers, and administrators to ensure the well-being of the incarcerated population. The Correctional RN utilizes their knowledge to address the specific challenges and limitations of the correctional environment while providing care to their patient population. This care includes both routine and emergency health care in a correctional facility setting.

Minimum Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
• Minimum of one year of correctional health care experience preferred
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
