The University of Miami Total Rewards Department has an exciting opportunity for a Performance Optimization Manager. The Performance Optimization Manager oversees all aspects of the organization’s performance management program along with recognition enhancements. This role ensures alignment between organizational goals and faculty and staff performance, secures and provides enterprise-wide training, analyzes performance data, and partners with departments to optimize training, goal-setting and performance.

Core

Job Functions
  • Develops and maintains the organization’s performance management strategy to align with organizational goals and workforce needs.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives and introduce modern frameworks including AI capabilities.
  • Serves as the primary project manager for the performance management program, ensuring readiness, quality, accuracy, and completion.
  • Manages large-scale performance management change management in collaboration with other UM areas for new tools, and role expectations.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on performance management policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Aids the HR team to ensure successful administration of the performance management program, ensuring consistency and compliance with organizational priorities.
  • Remains current on industry trends and regulatory requirements related to performance management and incorporate best practices.
  • Collaborates with HR and leadership teams to integrate performance management into annual process by encouraging check-ins, consistent feedback and recognition.
  • Collaborates with HR teams to provide goal-setting workshops to ensure goals are SMART, aligned, and measurable.
  • Provides guidance to HR Client Services and department leaders and partner with HR teams to provide coaching strategies and action plans for improvement.
  • Partners with HR teams, to develop and provide performance management toolkits, communication plans, and other resources to support leaders and staff enterprise-wide.
  • Partners with HR teams, to create dashboards for leaders that outline performance trends, calibration insights, manager behaviors, and risk indicators.
  • Evaluates and enhances performance management tools and systems, recommending consistent upgrades and/or process improvements.
  • Reviews and analyzes performance data, including goal completion rates, ratings distribution, and trends.
  • Prepares and presents performance analytics reports to senior leadership, highlighting insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Partners with HR teams on pay-for-performance principles and differentiation.
  • Works with Talent (Management) and Organizational Development to connect performance insights to leadership pipelines and development plans.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Experience

Minimum 5 Years Of Relevant Experience Required
