Position Overview:The Senior Accountant will oversee core accounting functions and play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project-based accounting, and ensuring timely reporting. This Senior Accountant role requires strong general ledger expertise, attention to detail, and proficiency in Quick Books, along with the ability to collaborate closely with project managers and leadership in a professional services environment.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare accurate financial statements and internal management reports.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Record journal entries, accruals, and accounting adjustments.
- Track project costs, revenue, and profitability in coordination with project managers.
- Monitor accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Assist with external audits and tax preparation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within engineering, construction, or professional services.
- Strong proficiency in Quick Books (required).
- Hands‑on experience with general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Understanding of project-based or job cost accounting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience with project accounting or percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition.
- Experience partnering with engineers, project managers, or technical teams.
- CPA or CPA‑eligible status.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
